Nonnegative Ricci curvature and rigidity of prescribed mean curvature graphs / Dynamical approaches to simplicial volume

Lunedì 12 Gennaio 2026, dalle ore 14:00 in Aula U9-09 (Edificio U9 - Viale dell'Innovazione 10, Milano), Giulio Colombo (Università degli Studi di Milano) e Filippo Sarti (Università di Pisa) terranno i seguenti interventi

Relatore: Giulio Colombo

Titolo: Nonnegative Ricci curvature and rigidity of prescribed mean curvature graphs

Abstract: In this talk I will discuss some rigidity and classification results for graphs of prescribed mean curvature on Riemannian manifolds of nonnegative Ricci curvature. In the first part of the talk I will focus on the case of entire minimal graphs on complete open manifolds, reviewing some Liouville and Bernstein type properties. Then, I will discuss the case of graphs of prescribed mean curvature on manifolds with boundary, obtaining some splitting results both for the graph and for the underlying manifold under suitable boundary conditions.

Titolo: Dynamical approaches to simplicial volume

Abstract: The power of dynamics in the study of geometric invariants as simplicial volume was already understood by Gromov. Over the years, many people developed different approaches to simplicial volume intertwining geometry, algebra and dynamics. In this talk, we will make a general overview about this philosophy, trying to understand the real advantages and the side effects that can arise. I will illustrate a recent new strategy involving foliations, describe connections with other (co)-homology theories and hint possible future applications.
