Departmental Three-Year Plan 2023-2025

The Departmental Three-Year Plan (PTD) presents the strategic guidelines for education, research and the third mission/social impact of the Department of Mathematics and Applications defined in coherence with and in implementation of the University's strategic planning. The PTD also defines the monitoring and review of education, research and third mission activities, the definition of criteria for the distribution of resources, the allocation of staff, facilities and support services for education, research and third mission.

In this section, the PTD for the academic three-year period 2023-2025 is published with respect to the following sections:

1. "Definition of the strategic lines for education, research and the third mission/social impact"
3. "Definition of criteria for the distribution of resources"
4. "Allocation of staff, facilities and support services for education, research and the third mission"

Annual Monitoring - Departmental Three-Year Plan 2023-2025

Together with the drafting of the PTD, annual monitoring actions and analysis of the results are planned, which are collected in the Departmental Three-Year Plan Monitoring document.

Maths Circles

Maths Circles are sessions for students interested in mathematics, organised at the University of Milano-Bicocca in collaboration with We Solve Problems.

The initiative is primarily aimed at students in lower secondary school and the first two years of upper secondary school and offers a different way of doing mathematics from ordinary classroom activities: tackling problems, exploring strategies, formulating conjectures, discussing ideas and working together to find solutions.

Maths Circles are not a competition-preparation course and are not intended only for students who are already particularly strong in mathematics. More generally, they are aimed at curious and motivated students who enjoy engaging with mathematical problems, without requiring any specific prior preparation.

The aim is to develop mathematical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to explain and discuss ideas rigorously, in an informal and collaborative environment.

The first session will take place on Saturday 10 October at 2:30 pm in Room U6-11 (U6 Building | Piazza dell'Ateneo Nuovo 1, Milano).
Further information and updates regarding the initiative will be provided during the session.
