Third and Fourth Mission Quality Assurance
The functioning of the University’s Quality Assurance (QA) System in relation to the Third and Fourth Mission is described on the page dedicated to Quality Assurance on the University of Milano-Bicocca website.
Each Department appoints a Third and Fourth Mission Quality Assurance Officer who coordinates the Third and Fourth Mission Committee.
The Committee includes at least one representative for the Fourth Mission, with the role of coordinating public engagement initiatives and linking with the University’s organisations.
It may also include a representative for third-party/commissioned research and a representative for the promotion of the Department.
Tasks and functions
The Third and Fourth Mission Committee is responsible for overseeing, promoting and supporting quality policies at departmental level. Its work focuses on identifying areas for improvement, as well as on implementing and monitoring the necessary corrective actions.
The Third and Fourth Mission Quality Assurance system also promotes the enhancement and transfer of knowledge across the region, engaging with public and private players to create value for society.
The Third and Fourth Mission QA supports the Department in the following activities:
- monitoring the Fatti e Persone portal annually, with reference to data relating to the Third and Fourth Mission;
- supporting, in line with the forecasts of AVA3, the planning, monitoring and review of departmental Third and Fourth Mission activities;
- assisting the Director in drawing up the Departmental Three-Year Plan relating to the Third and Fourth Mission;
- verifying the effectiveness and success of training and refresher initiatives aimed at secondary school students and teachers, as well as professional staff, by assessing the number of initiatives and training credits provided, and the number of people involved;
- verifying the impact of the delivery of fee-based services and high-profile consultancy, evaluating changes in the number of services provided and their value;
- verifying the impact and success of the Fourth Mission activities by evaluating changes in the number of students enrolled on Degree Programmes, activities for third-party clients and consultancy, and pre-industrial research activities.
The Third and Fourth Mission Committee is composed of:
