The Department of Mathematics and Applications promotes research in the main disciplines of mathematics, producing publications of high scientific impact every year.

Through its section of the National Institute of High Mathematics (INdAM) it supports mathematical culture in Italy and promotes national and European research projects.

The Department is also the promoter of the Crossings initiative, a series of mathematical seminars featuring established international researchers with the aim of foster discussion, collaboration and the dissemination of innovative ideas in the various fields of research.
