Research Quality Assurance

The functioning of the University’s Quality Assurance (QA) System in relation to research is described on the page dedicated to Quality Assurance on the University of Milano-Bicocca website.
Each Department appoints a Research Quality Assurance Officer who coordinates a Research Committee, responsible for coordinating, monitoring and linking related activities.

Tasks and functions

The Research QA is responsible for promoting and monitoring research activities. It is tasked with supervising and promoting quality policy at departmental level, identifying the necessary corrective actions and verifying their implementation.

The Research QA and the Research Committee support the Department in the following activities:

  • annually monitoring the Facts and People portal with regard to Research data;
  • on the basis of pre-defined criteria and in accordance with the Regulations governing the allocation by Departments of the University Fund, University Departmental Allocation (FQAD), to allocate the FQAD annually amongst the professors and researchers affiliated with the Department;
  • assist the Director in developing the Departmental Three-Year Plan;
  • constantly monitor trends in scientific output and the impact of research activities across the disciplinary areas active within the Department, including through the elaboration and calculation of ad hoc bibliometric parameters;
  • verify the scientific activity of non-tenured research staff, evaluating their output through bibliometric approaches and conducting periodic interviews;
  • support, in line with the forecasts of AVA3, the planning, monitoring and review of departmental research, where necessary by setting up specific working groups;
  • support the Department in preparation of the necessary documents for the hearings of the University's NdV.
