Bachelor's Degree Programme

The Bachelor's Degree Programme has a duration of three years and awards a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics at the end of the studies. This qualification allows access to higher-level educational activities, typically the Master's Degree.

Mathematics is a pure science that is the foundation of all sciences that have a predictive character.

Creativity and imagination are expressed within a system of logical-deductive rigour, producing solid intellectual architectures of objective beauty, which then find applications in the industrial, economic and Informatic fields.

Open-mindedness and flexibility are the characteristics most valued in the world of work and allow the mathematician to use his/her skills in the most different wide variety of professions.

The course has several objectives:

  • Teaching the fundamentals of analysis, algebra, geometry, probability, mathematical physics and numerical calculation;
  • Teaching the basics of physics;
  • Providing a basic knowledge of the main computer tools.

Graduates of the Bachelor's Degree Programme have a professional profile suitable for working in the field of dissemination of scientific culture, model-mathematical and computational support in industry, insurance and finance, services and public administration.

The Degree Course offers a self-assessment and preparation course named "Studying Mathematics", to be carried out independently with the possible support of high school mathematics teachers and some lecturers on the Bachelor's Degree Programme.

In order to help fill any gaps after enrolment, the School of Science organises a number of teaching support activities each year specifically dedicated to basic mathematics for incoming students on science Bachelor's Degree Programme.

We are here too!

Girls who study to become physicists, mathematicians, computer scientists or biotechnologists.
Boys who study to become teachers, educators, social workers or psychologists.
All of them have in common the passion for their studies and the choice of a path free of stereotypes.

We are here too! is one of the awareness projects to combat gender segregation in Degree Courses of the University of Milan-Bicocca promoted by the Observatory for Gender Equality.
