Cristiana De Filippis, our master's degree graduate, awarded Alumna of the Year 2025

This year the BicoccAlumni award, an annual prize given by the association of graduates of the University of Milano-Bicocca, was awarded to Cristiana De Filippis. A mathematician who has received numerous awards worldwide and is currently Full Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University of Parma, she graduated with honours from the University of Milano-Bicocca in 2016 with a Master's Degree in Mathematics.

Cristiana De Filippis has focused her research on the theory of regularity for elliptic and parabolic partial differential equations, with particular attention to problems arising from the calculus of variations and the possible formation of singularities. Over the years, her work has been recognised internationally, as demonstrated by her election to the inaugural cohort of the Young Academy of the European Mathematical Society (2023) and the awarding of the Iapichino Prize by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei in 2020, the Bartolozzi Prize by the Italian Mathematical Union in 2023, the EMS Prize (European Mathematical Society) in 2024, an ERC Starting Grant (European Research Council) in 2025 and the SIAM Early Career Prize on Analysis of PDEs (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics).
