Title: Language theory in groups: an approach using period growth and Schreier graphs
Abstract: The intersection of formal language theory and group theory manifests in various ways, most notably through the study of the language of the word problem. After introducing the theoretical background and reviewing the state of the art, in this talk we discuss new perspectives based on period growth and Schreier graphs. These approaches provide promising avenues for addressing open questions regarding the classification of groups within the Chomsky hierarchy. No prior knowledge of the topic is required.
