Prof. Veronica Felli interviewed about the “Women Mathematicians in Milan” initiative

Prof. Veronica Felli, lecturer in Mathematical Analysis and Deputy Director of the Department of Mathematics and Applications, was interviewed by Bnews about the "Women Mathematicians in Milan" initiative.

A morning dedicated to young women mathematicians, from undergraduates to researchers, organised by the association Maddmaths! in the context of gender equality, on the occasion of the International Day of Women in Mathematics-May12.

In this interview, the Professor talks about the so-called “gender gap” that exists not only in Mathematics but also in the other scientific-technological disciplines included in the STEM area (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), emphasising the importance for young female students and researchers to have a model to take inspiration from, reminding the figure of Maryam Mirzakhani, iranian mathematician and first woman winner of the Fields medal (the highest international prize for mathematical research, comparable to the Nobel prize).
