Applications are now open for the “A Star in the Dark” International Prize, organised by the Irini Pervolaraki Association to promote female talent in the STEAM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).
The initiative is dedicated to the memory of Irini Pervolaraki, a chemical engineer and manager of international standing, who was awarded the Star of merit for work by the President of the Republic for her contribution to industrial development and the education of the younger generation.
The 2026 edition establishes three awards, each designed for a specific stage of a woman’s professional career in the STEAM field and open to female candidates from all over the world who have obtained a degree in Italy or who are working there as entrepreneurs or managers:
- Early Manager: A recent STEAM master’s graduate, not yet in employment, with a thesis on Technological Innovation. Maximum age 28.
The prize includes €5,000, the submission of the CV to Confindustria and Federmanager, access to the database of partner companies.
- Driven Manager: A female manager (executive or manager) employed by a public or private company operating in Italy in STEAM sectors.
The prize includes an interview in the national media, local and national visibility, appointment as an Ambassador for the Award with participation in future events.
- Innovative Manager: A female entrepreneur who is the owner or majority shareholder of an innovative start-up or PMI in the STEAM field operating in Italy.
The prize includes media coverage, the opportunity to engage with Business Angels and investors, promotion of the business idea, appointment as an Ambassador.
Applications must be submitted by 31 July 2026.
