Wednesday 27 May 2026 at 4:45 pm, as part of the Insalate di Matematica seminar cycle, Susanna Bertolini (ETH Zürich) will hold the following talk

Title: Generic Regularity in the Obstacle Problem

Abstract: The Obstacle Problem arises naturally when studying an elastic membrane constrained by contact with an object (the obstacle). In this talk, we introduce the notion of solutions of the classical Obstacle Problem, discuss some applications, and discuss the main challenges in proving generic regularity of the free boundary in higher dimensions. This is based on a joint work in progress with A. Figalli and J. Serra.

Keywords: Elliptic PDES, generic regularity, free boundary problem

Information to attend

The seminar will be held in Room U9-09 (U9 Building | Viale dell’Innovazione 10, Milano) and will also be available online by this link (password: insalate, 46725283 from phones).
