During Summer 2009
several graduate courses in
mathematics will be held, under the sponsorship of the Consorzio per
l'Alta Formazione in Matematica (CIAFM) and the
Italian Ministery of Education and Research (MUR), in
Cortona at the Scuola Normale Superiore. The courses will take place
during the periods July 17– August 24, 2009.
The courses are directed
towards young graduates who
would like to engage in research in one of the following fields :
July 7– July 24
Algebraic Geometry Degenerations Projective Varities and Interpolation Theory Ciro Ciliberto - Università Roma "Tor Vergata" Rick Miranda - Colorado State University
August 17– August 26
Geometric Aspects in Non-Linear Analysis Sun-Yung Alice Chang - Princeton University Andrea Malchiodi - S.I.S.S.A. Trieste
Each participant is
required to choose one topic for a
total of 12 hours a week of lectures.
In addition, the
participants themselves will be asked
to participate in the problem sessions and in the seminars that will be
organized in the afternoons.
Ten SMI fellowships, of
the duration of two or three
weeks, will be available to foreign participants to help cover their
living expenses. The fellowship holders will receive Euro 52 per week
and will be lodged in the Palazzone or nearby hotels; breakfast and
lunch (the latter only from Monday through Saturday)will be offered by
the organization at Palazzone. As a further contribution text book and
lecture notes will be provided by the School.

Applications for the
courses of the first, second and third period
should reach this address before May 5, 2009.
A selection committee will meet shortly afterwards and
all accepted foreign applicants will be notified of the result in due
time.

VITAE and a DETAILED
CURRICULUM STUDIORUM
and should indicate which course the candidate would like to follow.
Applicants are requested to state if their participations is
conditioned by the allotment of a fellowship.The exact address to which
